The Sound Builder

one bed, made from the inside

The other two boards in this room set out finished sounds: the fourteen beds the game ships, and a garden's layers balanced against an hour and a season. This one goes underneath them. Choose an engine, open its groups, and every knob it carries is here with the name the physics gave it — wind speed and canopy height, the crackle rate of a hearth, how much of a frog's pond is above the water. Lay a gesture over the render, ask for a seam, and what comes back is what the bake would make.

What it measures

The bars are the bed's loudness second by second, with the tenth and ninetieth ruled across them: a bed that breathes has a tall strip, a bed that hisses has a flat one. Under them, the same bed by frequency. The figures are the ones the bake records, so you can aim at a shipped bed's numbers.

The join

A bed has to run into itself. Play it round three times to hear whether it does, or sit on the join alone.

The weather over it

A gesture is what happens to a bed while it plays: a gust that comes round, a lull that takes it away and gives it back, a fire settling. At rest there is none, and the bed is exactly what the engine renders.

The knobs

Every knob the engine carries, in the groups the engine names them by. A slider you move takes the ink and is sent as your value; double-click it to give it back to the preset.

Keep it

The recipe below is the shape the game's own catalogue accepts for a bed, so a sound made here can be pasted in and baked as it stands.

The builder is not served here yet: it needs the bench's bed route, and this page is looking for it at /forge/api/bed. The two boards of the ambience room are upstairs.
